The Ayurvedic Gem Therapy Course
Welcome to the first course of its kind available to Ayurvedic practitioners and health care professionals specifically on the subject of healing with gems. This area is given mention and explanation to a small degree in most courses in Ayurvedic medicine, but only cursorily. This course is in-depth and has the most information ever compiled in one place on the usage and application of natural gemstones as a means of healing in accordance with Ayurvedic principles.
Clinical application of gem therapy will be taught. This will include using the gems directly on the body, the use of electronic gem instruments, and the making of gem elixirs. With the advances made over the last few years, using electronic gem instruments make this the ideal means for health care professionals to use gem therapy in their practice.
One of the best methods for all persons to increase their energy levels and ward off disease is to also wear gems specifically suited to them. This is an entirely specialized field in itself. Ayurvedic doctors in India always consult a patient�s jyotish chart (Vedic astrological horoscope) before recommending particular gems for them to wear. This is necessary as although no negative side effects can ever be felt using gems clinically for treatments, there can be serious harmful side effects if a person wears a gem constantly that is wrong for them to use in this way.
To that end there is a separate course devoted to planetary or jyotish gemology as used in Vedic astrology, as well as for those who already practice jyotish or are students of Vedic astrology. It is not necessary for students of this course who wish to become certified in clinical Ayurvedic gem therapy to become proficient in planetary gemology or to take the other course, but for those wanting to have more complete knowledge of using gems for externally for wear, we recommend our Jyotish (Vedic Astrological) Gem Therapy Course. For those who do wish to gain this certification, also, we can offer certification as a Jyotish Gem Advisor or as a Jyotish Gemologist. One must have some experience in jyotish and pass a test on recommending gems this way. For this second designation the student must already be a certified gemologist by a recognized institution and be able to pass tests on applying gems to the Vedic horoscope.
Purpose of the Course
This Ayurveda Gem Therapy course was devised to help Ayurvedic Practitioners learn enough about gems to understand their properties. It also teaches, in a methodical way, the methods used to recommend gems correctly by studying Ayurveda. Students of this course will be able to make accurate and positive evaluations of how a gem will affect a person physically, mentally and on all subtle levels, including spiritually and what
areas of life may be enhanced by utilizing this science of Ayurvedic gem therapy. By studying the methods explained within this course for the prescription of particular cosmic color rays the health practitioner will come to understand the nature of the healing qualities within each Ayurvedic gem. Using these methods holistic practitioners can enhance the quality of the treatment they can provide for their clients. Ayurvedic Gem therapy can also be used in conjunction with allopathic medicines, as there are no side effects.

- Provide students with a deeper gemological knowledge of the specific gems used in Ayurvedic practices.
- Provide specific information on how gems work on the human organism.
- Provide specific information on how gems transmit cosmic rays.
- Provide information on how gems affect specific physical and mental systems.
- Provide students with the foundation to include Ayurvedic gem therapy in their practice or for themselves.
- Provide students with a background knowledge of Ayurvedic texts as well as modern research to allow greater accuracy and efficiency in providing gem therapy as a holistic treatment.
There are no specific prerequisites required, however, it would be very helpful if the student has a basic overall understanding of the Ayurvedic System and how it works in connection with mind, body and spirit. A basic understanding of anatomy and physiology would also be very helpful.
Orientation of the Course
This course aims to present the science of gem therapy as used in Ayurveda and with the further utilization of modern technology for transmitting their potencies to the body.
The approach combines ancient Ayurvedic systems with modern research to supply the student with a strong foundation of the Science of Ayurvedic Gem Therapy. Part One focuses primarily on the theory and practice of Ayurveda providing the student with a general overall knowledge of this healing science. In Part Two we explain the nature of light energy, color and cosmic rays and their relation to Ayurvedic gem therapy. Also covered is the connection between the cosmic rays, the doshas and the different systems of the body are also covered. Practical instructions are provided for making gem elixirs founded on a wide base of gemological knowledge and practical Ayurvedic-astrological knowledge. We also have proved particularly distorted, yet previously accepted, practices of this science to be unfounded and that also often give adverse results.
The gemological information is all bona fide as delineated by the Gemological Association of America, the Gemological Association of Great Britain and other internationally recognized institutions. The astrological information is in accordance with traditional jyotish as per Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra and other classical astrological works.
The Ayurvedic knowledge and information is also traditional and bona-fides per traditional texts and knowledge such as found in the RIG Veda, the ATHARVA Veda, and the UPAVEDAS. Works such as RATNAPARIKASA and the GARUDA PARANA deal specifically with the Science of Gemology.
Credit and Certification for the Course
This course provides 300 hours of credit in Ayurvedic gem therapy studies through the American Institute of Vedic Studies. This can be added to the credit hours of the Jyotish Gem Therapy course, Ayurvedic Healing course, Astrology of the Seers Jyotish course, Advanced Yoga and Ayurveda courseand others, which may be offered by the AIVS, for those developing credit through the American Institute of Vedic Studies. Note, however, that such hours may not be acceptable to all Jyotish or Ayurvedic institutions, any more than their hours may be acceptable to us. This is because there is no standardization of hours in jyotish or Ayurvedic programs in the West.
The course is also of value relative to our affiliated organizations. These hours, however, are relative to "distance learning" and may not be equivalent to hours of classroom or one-on-one instruction.
A certificate of completion is awarded to students finishing this correspondence course.
Student/Teacher Interaction: More Interactive Options
Such inexpensive distance learning programs as this course cannot provide extensive direct contact with teachers through telephone or in person. However, we do allow students to ask additional questions by e-mail relative to the course material. If students wish to have direct interaction with their teacher, which includes being able to receive additional case studies for analysis, as well as using others of their own for analysis, this may be done for an additional fee of $350.00. This will provide an additional 100 hours of direct study credit to be added to the overall course credit. This option is done exclusively by e-mail. Direct questions and interaction by telephone may also be possible. Telephone consultations carry an additional fee and must be booked in advance and in accordance with your instructor�s schedule.
